Decorative boxes are more than just another box with a pretty face. These beautiful containers have adorned rooms and held treasures and keepsakes for centuries. They are also functional and practical. In fact, boxes dating back to the 17th century were functional first and then decorated for appeal. They were designed with compartments inside the boxes for needles, silk and embroidery supplies and then later adorned with silk and beading on the outside. Today's version of these treasure holders still serves both purposes - beauty and function.

Decorative boxes come in a variety of sizes, designs and shapes. In addition to being beautiful additions to any room's décor, you can find one to suit your storage needs as well. Decorative storage boxes do just that. Much like the earlier boxes, they are designed with multiple-sized compartments for a variety of uses. They are great for storing craft, embroidery and sewing supplies in an attractive storage space for any room. Choose a different one for each storage purpose. Wooden decorative boxes are great for keepsakes as well as storing cherished papers, clippings and mementos. You will find many uses for these appealing storage devices.

When we think of boxes, we think of square or rectangular containers. It's the first thought that enters our mind. However, you may be surprised to learn that there is an ample supply of other shapes that are suitable for many uses. Did you know boxes can be round? Round boxes are perfect for many needs and not just as hat boxes. Heart shaped decorative boxes are great for storage or keepsake boxes as well as decoration.

When you think of decorative boxes, a variety of keepsake and storage boxes may pop into your mind. However, you probably are not thinking of the best known decorative box - the jewelry box. Available in many styles and shapes, jewelry boxes are both functional and aesthetically appealing. Jewelry boxes also make great gifts. Who doesn't like an exquisite and beautiful place to store their precious gems? With compartments specifically made for rings, necklaces and other items, they are a perfect blend of function and style. Musical jewelry boxes enchant both little girls and grown women alike. The sound of music playing as you gaze upon a special ring or necklace makes the memories even stronger. A jewelry box is a great gift for a special occasion or any occasion.

Keepsake boxes also make great gifts. A heart-shaped box to keep letters, photos and mementos of your relationships and life is a thoughtful and caring touch. A wooden decorative box for high school, college or friendship memories is another great gift idea. Know an expectant mother? A keepsake box to store all the memories and mementos of her new baby is a unique and treasured gift. Any new life event or experience can be represented by another box. The possibilities are endless!

Decorative boxes are the perfect blend of style and function for gift giving and keepsakes alike. Decorative boxes are indeed more than just a box with a pretty face, they are beautiful memory holders and functional storage space.

If you are like most people, your face will make you look older before anything else does, and probably before you would like it to! If this is the case, face wrinkle treatment may be something that you have already thought about in the past. However, there are a number of different ways to tackle the problem, all with their own separate pros and cons. Here, we will focus on the anti aging serums that you may have heard about recently.

You will want your anti aging serum of choice to include Vitamins A, B, C and D. These vitamins will help to keep your skin nice and firm, so that you can fight the effects of aging. Face wrinkle treatment is also about the prevention of future wrinkles, sagging skin and other problems, after all.

When applying anti aging serums, make sure to use upward motions to discourage sagging, and you should usually apply the serum a couple of times daily for best results. Of course, your particular serum may advise differently, and it's always best to follow the given instructions to the letter. You can also supplement your anti aging serum of choice with anti wrinkle cream, lotions and other helpful items to really enjoy great results at a much quicker pace than otherwise.

Face wrinkle treatment is really about using a multiple pronged approach. You can do this by not only using anti aging serums, but also by using simple facial exercises, anti wrinkle creams, and many other approaches, too. You can also help out your own cause by making sure to take good care of yourself. If you do not smoke, get plenty of rest and have a healthy diet and lifestyle, you will not age as quickly as others who do not.

Losing Weight and Building Confidence

Losing Weight

Having confidence in your goal is important. It's tough to stick to something we don't believe we can do, after all. We've talked in other articles about how easy it is to get frustrated, and about controlling negative thoughts in our effort to build up good and healthy habits. We've also talked about rewards and incentives, but we haven't really spoken about the best means of confidence boosting and building a habit of strong thinking itself.

Just like all of our other behaviors, confidence also is a habit. It's a way of thinking that, if we cultivate it properly, will become automatic. People with more confidence try more things, take more risks and have more experiences overall than those of us without it. So let's look at a few ways we can cultivate that kind of confidence for ourselves.

Confidence Booster 1 - Knowing Your Abilities

My Weight Loss Coach

Honesty is the most important part of having a proper confidence habit. There are things we definitely can do, and things we definitely cannot. We can believe all we want that eating while standing up "doesn't count," but the calories still go in! Similarly, just because we're afraid that we can't do something doesn't necessarily mean it's true. We might be convinced that we'll drown the moment we go into a pool, but stepping into the water will prove we're wrong.

To that end, sit down with yourself and go over your goals and steps you've broken your diet plan down into. Look at each one, and come up with two different things that might get in your way of achieving them. Then immediately write down one way you know you can circumvent each potential problem. If it's a friend who insists on super whippy frothy coffee desserts, consider asking them if you can meet at a different venue while you're working on your weight loss.

Do this every single day. Pick out a specific goal, one obstacle and a resolution to that obstacle every morning when you get started. This will get your mind in the habit of thinking about your abilities and what you can do with them, rather than the problems and confidence-crushing hindrances that slow you down. Make sure you do it at the same time every morning to strengthen the habit-building potential of it.

Confidence Booster 2 - Review Your Successes

Nothing in the world boosts confidence like success. Verbal affirmations of your self worth are a good step, but they're infinitely more powerful when you have something to reflect on when you make them. Equally, successes become more meaningful when rewarded with congratulations, yet often we are the ones least inclined to congratulate ourselves. Stop withholding well-deserved praise from yourself and start acknowledging what you've done right.

Whenever you take a positive step toward your goal, whether that's refusing the large portion for the small one or successfully exercising the "wait 20 minutes" option during a snack craving, compliment yourself for it. Whether aloud or in the privacy of your thoughts, praise yourself for a job well done.

At the end of the day, review all the successes you made. You've probably already gone over the mistakes, so those don't need retreading. Instead, focus on each little victory and take pride in it, knowing that it helped you one step along your way.

Confidence Booster 3 - Set Goals and Hit Them Again

Repetition and routine are the best methods of solidifying a good, powerful habit that will help when losing weight. We've discussed setting goals, and complimenting yourself for achieving them, so now let's talk about repeating them. After all, what's more impressive - hitting the bull's eye, or hitting it 10 times?

To that end, take some time when you wake up to remember the successes from yesterday. After pausing to compliment yourself again for them, affirm that you're going to take the same step today. You did it once, after all; it's entirely within your grasp to do it again. If you think you can, go a step further and affirm an expansion to the goal as well.

This pattern will help you build a habit of consistently seeing your accomplishments as something that you can do and have done, and make you want to do them again. Then, as you get comfortable hitting the mark, you'll naturally want to expand it, hitting a higher goal, until it becomes the one you meet every day.

Confidence Booster 4 - Review the Plan

An interesting study recently showed that people who focus only on their end goal don't tend to succeed as much as those who focus on the goal and the steps in between. Yes, we all want to get to a place where we feel better, and fit into a nicer set of clothes, but if we choose to focus only on the little swimsuit, we're going to inevitably look at ourselves and think, "How will I ever..."

Remember that you have a plan. You're not trying to make a leap; you've got many small steps in between that you're going to take. You don't have to lose fifty pounds today; you just have to replace your usual afternoon candy bar with a healthy sandwich, or a pack of low-salt nuts. You can take that step - that's easy! By reviewing the plan, and focusing both on the intermediate steps AND the goal, you make the goal seem that much more approachable, and you will find your confidence soaring.

The Dress Code - Five Steps to a Greener Wardrobe

In the last few weeks, we've discussed a number of healthy ways to live, ranging from proper diet and skin care to the values of recycling and green living. The message of a green lifestyle is simple: We care about our planet, and want to leave it as good as we found it and even better, for our children and for everyone. The wonderful thing about this is that there are countless ways to live green.

For example, consider the budding green and organic clothing movement. While the idea of organic clothing might sound a bit unusual at first, it really is an extension of the idea of organic food. Clothes are often made from plant materials like cotton, and these can be grown under organic conditions just like food products. With that in mind, here are five ways you can start dressing green.

Dress Code #1 - Shop Organic

The most straightforward and quickest way to get into some green attire is to find green and organic clothing outlets. There are literally dozens of such stores online, for a start. A quick Google search for 'Green Clothing' comes up with a number of promising hits, such as Fashion and Earth, and White Apricot, both of which have significant green-oriented fashion sections.

When it comes to local stores there are sometimes fewer choices. Clothing retail markets can be dominated by chain stores or specialized stores catering to specific body types or enthusiast niches. This doesn't mean there aren't any such places; just that they may take a bit more digging to find than the online options might call for. However, some chain stores are responding to consumer demands by offering Organic items.

Dress Code #2 - Make the Most of What You Have

An important theme in sustainable living is longevity. Buying a new set of organically made shirts for school is a wonderful step, but if it leads you to throw out perfectly usable shirts that you already have available, then how much good has actually been done? Clothes that you already own are a wonderful way to focus on sustainable fashion. They don't cost you anything extra to buy or require any new materials to make.

Of course if the clothes don't fit anyone in the house, there isn't a great deal of sense in keeping them around just in case. However, there are alternatives to simply scrapping them. If they're in good condition, consider donating them to a charitable organization. Or, if they're worn out past the point of decency, they make great scrap material for clothing patches, art projects, or even just washrags.

Dress Code #3 - Watch How You Wash

It takes a lot of resources to wash clothes. Apart from the water itself, there's the energy needed to power the washing machine and dryer, and if you're doing a hot-water wash that will take up still more electricity. These are resources generated in most cases by fossil fuels, and easing our dependence on these is an important part of living sustainably.

When shopping for clothes, pick out ones you can run through a cold water wash cycle. During warmer months, air-dry your clothes on clotheslines instead of relying on the dryer. As for the clothes you already have, consider replacing or repurposing the ones that require warm washes first, rather than the cold-wash friendly ones. Also, try to avoid or at least limit the number of outfits that need dry cleaning.

Dress Code #4 - Shop Smart, Save Money

We can save and reuse what outfits we already have, but we're eventually going to need to get new clothes. If we want to choose green fashions, it sometimes can cost a pretty penny. This is one of the toughest limiting factors on many green choices, and clothing is no exception.

Fortunately, there are always sales. Check with the online companies and watch for weekly discounts and special bargains. Do some research, bide your time, and buy when you can get the very best deals for your dollars.

Dress Code #5 - The Web is Your Friend

In addition to the many online shopping opportunities, the Web has an abundance of purely informative websites, with numerous articles available for just about any curiosity that strikes your mind. This includes information on sustainable living in all stripes, clothing choices included. One really great resource that some people just don't seem to be aware of is the Internet discussion group.

There are dozens of forums, blogs, and other kinds of communities where like-minded people gather together and find relevant things to talk about, green living included. See if there's a community that you're interested in and join up. You may find a great deal on clothing, or learn a cheap way to make patterns for home sewing attempts. The information is out there, ready for the taking.

Dressing green is about much more than making sure your clothing is made from all-natural, fair-trade materials - though these are very important, too. It's about a big picture mindset, and about taking many small steps to make the best of everything you have available to you. There is no one step that will make the world green, but rather many small, easy steps that we can all start taking right now.
