Is Having A Henna Tattoo Fashion Nowadays?

Henna tattoos the new fashion statement

Author: sikha singh

Henna is obtained naturally from the leaves of the plant - Lawsonia inermis , which are sun dried and made into a paste.

It brings forth a rust dye molecule, named lawsone. Now,this molecule has a bonding with protein, which is used to dye skin, fingernails, hair, silk, wood, and leather.

Henna or Mehndi is a paste that can be purchased ready-made in a cone-shaped tube. It is majorly used into creating and applying this paste as designs for men and women. Being derived from mendhikā, a Sanskrit word . The use of mehndi with turmeric has been described in the earliest Vedic Hindu ritual books. Haldi (turmeric paste) as well as Henna (mehndi) are old Vedic customs, intended to be a symbolic or figurative representation of the inner and outer sun. Vedic customs revolve around the idea related to "awakening the inner light".

Henna was first applied as a way to cool the body during hot days. In Hindi it is referred to as Mehndi. It is an ancient body art form that has been practiced in India, Middle east and some parts of Africa for many thousands of years.

The juvenile twigs and leaves are crushed into fine powder, and then mixed with water to form a semi-liquid paste .It is applied on the hands or full arms, feet and even hair to give them its produced reddish-orange , that is rust or burgandy color. This henna mud mixture is applied in beautiful designs using a small plastic cone with a small hole pricked onto one corner. It acts same as a pastry-decorating tube .

An old folklore describes the story of a new young bride. Back in those days when she received her Mehndi before her wedding she was not allowed to do any kind of household chores or any other work until the Mehndi faded away. She was getting lazier day by day and each night she would quietly sneak to another room & re-apply her Mehndi over again. One day,her husband realized what was going on as it was taking twice the usual time for the Mehndi to fade away. It wasn't till the next day when the bride was awfully tired while re-applying the Mehndi and she made a mistake. Next morning her husband saw some lines out of the original place in her Mehndi and confirmed his doubt immediately about she had done.

Nevertheless ,the term 'Henna Tattoo in Dubai' is metamorphic, because real tattoos are permanent insertions done by surgical method of using pigments under the skin, as instead of pigments applied on the surface as in the case of mehndi.

Due to the desire for a "black" tattoo-like appearance, many have started mixing henna with the synthetic dye p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) to give it a darker black colour. Although it may lead to severe allergic reactions and hence was voted out as Allergen of the Year in 2006 , declared by the American Contact Dermatitis Society.

Top 10 Fashionista Book Must Haves!

Ultimate Fashion Books - Calling all fashionistas

Author: Chrisian

For anybody interested in fashion, a beautiful coffee table tome is a must have to show off your style credentials. Whether you're interested in vintage, designer or high street, there is a wealth of books out there to tickle your fancy. Here are my top ten fashionista bibles.

10. Face Hunter - Yvan Rodic
After running his acclaimed Face Hunter blog for the last four years, Rodic has collected over 300 stunning photographs taken all around the world to produce this homage to street style. It is essentially a collectable version of his online outfit database, to dip into when you're feeling in need of some inspiration. Naturally, he only photographs the most beautiful people in the trendiest of areas but they are all unlikely style icons, nonetheless. It is always far more interesting to have a nosey at what real people are wearing than magazine mannequins and this book will certainly give you the courage to try something new.

9. The Way We Wore: A Life in Threads - Robert Elms
Books about men's fashion are strangely few and far between. If anyone was under the belief that men aren't sartorially minded then this book is quick to dispel that particular myth. Journalist and former New Romantic, Elms, presents a wonderful account of clothes as a defining part of our identities. He remembers events by the outfit he wore at the time and milestones in his adolescence are identified by the acquisition a much sought after item of clothing. Perhaps most interesting of all, is his analysis of youth subcultures like the mods and punks and teds and how style has always been a source of pride for young British men seeking to make their mark in the world.

8. Fresh Fruits - Shoichi Aoiki
Remember when Gwen Stefani sang about Harajuku girls and took four of them around with her wherever she went? This book demonstrates why so many people have become enchanted by Tokyo street style. Excerpts from the ever popular Fruits magazine were compiled to make this guide to the latest Japanese trends. Whilst the magazine was aimed at local teenagers this book has wider appeal as a something to buy for curiosity's sake than for inspiration. Every person pictured is like a glorious cartoon character come to life and every photograph is accompanied by a blurb so that we can learn what exactly they were thinking, going out dressed like that!

7. In Vogue - The Illustrated History of the World's Most Famous Fashion Magazine - Alberto Olliva and Norberto Angeletti
Unlike most books fashion books, In Vogue doesn't only offer gorgeous photographs by Irving Penn and Annie Liebovitz and many an iconic cover, it is actually packed full of things to read too! This book presents the story of the ultimate fashion magazine from its humble origins in 1909 to the present day, through stories from photographers and former editors. A nice touch is also the collection of stories by famous authors that have been published in Vogue over the years. A wonderfully varied and quite hefty book that is beautifully bound and perfect for showing off on your coffee table. Let's face it, we'd expect nothing less.

6. Cecil Beaton: The Art of the Scrapbook
Photographer for Vogue, Royal photographer, Oscar winner and documenter of the roaring twenties. For the first time, Cecil Beaton's private scrapbooks are now available for everyone to look through and as well as providing a fascinating insight into the inspirations for his work, it also serves as a collection of memories from his extraordinary life. Here you will find a photo of Greta Garbo's eyes alongside a watercolour painting and Beaton's own notes. Less a lesson in fashion, this book teaches you how to transform your magazine clippings, sketches and postcards into a work of art in their own right. Perfect for anyone who likes to cut and paste their own mood boards but it is a little pricey.

5. Vivienne Westwood - Claire Wilcox
There is no doubt that Vivienne Westwood is one of Britain's biggest fashion exports and most eccentric designers. This book, which was published to coincide with an exhibition at the V&A museum serves as both a Westwood biography and design retrospective. It charts her origins in Derbyshire to dressing the punk generation and the Hollywood starlets of today, focusing on some of her most iconic designs (remember the platform shoes that defeated Naomi Campbell on the runway?) and the working methods she uses. If you can't quite afford Westwood's clothes, you can console yourself by cooing over the 300 beautiful pictures in this book.

4. Vintage - Emma Baxter-Wright
This book is an absolute must for anyone who, like me, adores rummaging through racks of vintage clothes but is never quite sure what they're looking for exactly. A timeline of fashion from the turn of the last century to the present day, guides you through the key looks of each decade and is accompanied by a beautiful collection of old photographs and illustrations. The features on Dior's New Look of the 1940s and 50s and the success of Biba in the 1960s make for particularly interesting reading. If you're looking to recreate a specific style, the book provides a not too detailed account of techniques used and would be a great buy for anyone studying fashion.

3. Icons of Men's Style - Josh Sims
The second book in my list dedicated to men's fashion first caught my attention thanks to the rather dashing picture of Gregory Peck on the front cover. This comprehensive list of iconic items of men's clothing includes the leather jacket, the boat shoe and the Panama hat. We learn about the brands that made them, usually for a special purpose, the faces that made them famous and how they have come to be staples in men's wardrobes. This book is an easy read as well as being very cool. Expect to see pictures of Tom Cruise in his Top Gun aviator sunglasses alongside James Dean in his Blouson jacket. A must for the fashion conscious man.

2. Fifty Dresses that Changed the World - The Design Museum
More portable than some of the other tomes on this list, this book created by the Design Museum in London is a wonderful tribute to fashion design throughout the decades. It is fun and user friendly and not just for the dedicated fashion student or Vogue devotee. Every iconic dress is included in this, from Marilyn's white dress in The Seven Year Itch to Audrey's little black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany's and Liz Hurley's frankly bizarre safety-pin creation. Each dress is profiled and discussed to see just why it has come to have an enduring influence on pop culture.

1. Style Diaries: World Fashion from Berlin to Tokyo - Simone Werle
The sartorialists on the street have their say. If you don't fancy trawling the internet for inspiration, this offers a nice selection of people who value personal style above fashion fads. Like the Face Hunter book, Style Diaries focuses on real people who create their own distinctive style and want to share it with the world. Blogging is very much at the forefront of modern fashion and this book acknowledges that by showcasing the 50 best fashion bloggers from all over the world. Not only are we spoiled with pictures of their favourite outfits, but they let us into some of their style secrets and the cute facts about each blogger is a nice touch. If you don't fancy trawling the internet for inspiration, this offers a nice selection of people who value personal style above fashion fads.

Deciding What To Wear Over Christmas?

What are you going to wear over Christmas? What parties are you going to?

You may need some party dresses, shoes, bags and new jewelry.

And a warm Christmas coat so that you can just wear your dress underneath.

Depending on where you are going and what you are doing you will need different outfits to wear and getting ready in advance will save you time and all you have to do is pick your clothes for the day or evening event you are going to.

For example, you might be spending Christmas Day at your parent's house or with your in laws. Or you could have a Christmas Eve dinner, drinks or party to go to and need something for the evening. And if you are going to Church you will also need an appropriate suit, dress, top and skirt to wear.

And if you are going clubbing to a Christmas party or out to a Glam bar or Chic restaurant you'll want to get your party clothes ready.

Matching shoes are important as well as your hand bag, jacket or coat.

Are you wearing patent or plain shoes? Low or High Heels? And what color?

Are your bags matching your shoes? Or will you use your favorite Christmas time bags?

Whatever you decide to wear over Christmas it's better to look through your wardrobe and get ready early on so that you can buy what you need and be ready over the Holiday Season to enjoy yourself.

What About Something Cashmere For This Christmas

Gifting Cashmere This Holiday Season Gifting Cashmere This Holiday Season
By Stephanie Bentley
Now that the holidays are near, many of us are looking for gift giving ideas for friends and families. The gifting of clothes and accessories are one of the biggest. It is hard to know where to start if this is your route, so it is nice to take into consideration what your loved can be given. It is especially nice if the gift is something of good quality that will last.
Cashmere is one of many items that can assist in your holiday shopping journey. Cashmere is wool that is a type of fiber acquired from the soft undercoat of goats. This luxurious fabric is popular for being strong, yet light weight and soft to the touch. A great thing about this gift is the fabric doesn't itch or stretch out.
This gift idea is a great option, however you should be sure to do your research to make sure you are getting the quality you are looking for before making any purchases, as the texture, color, and length of the fibers are all factors in the manufacturing and pricing of this cozy and comfortable piece of heaven. Keep in mind that only pure cashmere sweaters can be labeled "100 Percent Cashmere." If the sweater is a blend of different fibers, then the manufacturer is required to include the percentage of cashmere along with the percentage of any other fibers that are included. If you don't see a tag that includes the fiber content, then it is wise to not make the purchase. This is especially important if you are interested in the whiter cashmere items. For whiter cashmere fibers, very little dye is needed, which aids in the protection against damage that coloring causes to the natural softness, which puts this type of cashmere on the higher end of pricing.
Cashmere socks You can make gifting socks have a whole other meaning. Gifting this type of leg wear is great because it is made for both men and women, and can certainly make someone's day with the amount of comfort that is experienced. Cashmere socks range from $20 all the way to $200! There are many different types of socks such as ankle, crew, and knee high. With all of the different colors and styles, it is easy to find the right designed pair of socks for anyone you are shopping for.
Cashmere sweaters These are a popular sale amongst shopping for cashmere. Depending on your budget, since more fibers are used to make these items, quality sweaters can run between $99 and $2000. Again, you can find a wide range of styles and colors to choose from.
Cashmere scarves This is another item that can be gifted to either men or women. During the fall/winter season, scarves become very popular to keep warm all while staying stylish. Gifting a scarf is another fabulous item that will last for years and can be worn over and over again keeping you feeling warm and luxurious.
Cashmere is a great item to gift this holiday season and is sure to please friends and family.
You can find cashmere in a wide range of department stores and online stores like ilux. As previously mentioned, be sure to do your research and make sure you are making your purchases through stores and brands that you trust.

Dining Table Centerpieces

WHStateGWB

Ever hosted a party at your home and didn't have a clue about how to 'dress up' your dining table? Not to worry - you're not alone. I recently hosted a barbecue, and while I made sure everything was completed before the guests arrived, there was one thing missing: a gorgeous centerpiece on my dining room table. I once believed the knack for decorating dining tables was a gift given to only a few people, until I conducted a Google search. Adorning your table with beautiful decorations is not only simple, but inexpensive also.

The primary element of making a stunning centerpiece for your dining table is to get creative. For instance, follow a theme or make it seasonal. Are you having family over for Thanksgiving? Then decorate your table with fall-like colors, pumpkins and leaves. Do you host a barbecue every summer? Consider a Hawaiian theme and adorn your dining room table with grass skirts, leis and figurines—whatever you think is suitable to complement your theme. Dining tables don't always have to be formal; guests like some panache at your party.

Use Accessories!

Flowers. Tablecloths. Candles. Placemats. Fabrics. Fruits. Veggies. Making a dining table centerpiece is easy, as there are so many decorations to choose from. Nevertheless, if you're not a very creative person, keep in mind that enhancing your table doesn't have to be a laborious task—just a few embellishments will suffice. Will your guests actually sit at the table for dinner, or are you using it as a spot to place food? If the former, you'll need to make sure the centerpiece isn't too tall; otherwise, your guests will be stretching their necks just to make eye contact with one another. Remember that less is more. Dining tables that are too busy with over-the-top decorations look tacky.

Ask for Professional Help

If you still don't trust your creative side, ask for help. While the Web offers great ideas for dining table centerpieces, you can always ask an associate at an arts and crafts store. Dining tables look great when they're enhanced with decorations, but don't get stressed about the project. Include various design elements, such as balance and proportion, light, texture, color, and form.

Simple Tips for a Creative Centerpiece

  • Use Food as a Decorative Item - Simple and fun, food always provides some color and creativity to your centerpiece. From lemons, to apples, to pomegranates and beyond, use food that you'll actually eat, too.

  • Use Everyday Aromas - All too often, homeowners try out a new scent for the home and place it on their dining table, but it's either not enough or too much. In addition, they are usually artificial, which is bad for your health and the environment. Instead, use natural, inexpensive scents, such as dried lavender or dried rosemary, and place in a decorative pot.

  • Keep Away from Matching Decorations - Contrary to what you might believe, matching items for your overall dining table centerpiece is too cutesy. Live on the edge - get super creative and use all sorts of accessories that already exist in your home. This not only provides a little added flair, but also helps you save money.

  • Use Fresh Flowers - If you enjoy getting flowers from your significant other, then you'll love having fresh flowers on your dining table. Pick them from your garden or buy some at the local florist; get artistic with your own floral arrangement.

  • Enjoy Your Dining Table

Once your dining room table decorations are finished, it's time to have some fun and throw a party. Be confident that your table is creative and fun. More than just a decoration, making a centerpiece can even be a therapeutic experience!
